The main library reading hall (Hauptlesesaal) at the University of Vienna. The building was built in 1884, designed by Heinrich von Ferstel. Today, Vienna's University Library is the largest collection of books in Austria, housing 2.6 million volumes at the Main Library building alone and 6.6 million in the University Library system altogether.

The main reading room of Graz University Library, part of the Karl Franzens University of Graz in Austria. The Main Library building was built in 1891, although several additions have been made, in 1950, 1970 and 1996. Together with two faculty libraries (for law, social and economic sciences, and theology) and several branch libraries, the library has holdings of 3 million printed books, more than 2,000 manuscripts and about 1,200 incunabula.
